Last week we had the Thank-you Dinner and Awards Presentation for all those who took part in the orientation. Despite the rain and chilly weather, a number of students braved the elements to get to Mt. Lawley Campus to take part.

First was a debriefing session where they discussed aspects of the orientation that worked well, and those areas that could be improved. This was all done with the aim of impoving the orientation experience for all involved, from the incoming students to the volunteers themselves. As the orientation is a huge learning experience, there was quite a bit to be said, and some valuable suggestions were made.

This was followed by the awards ceremony, where all the members of the steering committee, the volunteers and the coordinators were presented with certificates for their contribution. A number of volunteers received medals for their Outstanding contributions, as well as two coordinators who recieved the Outstanding Coordinator awards. The man of the evening, however, was Nick Barritt, who was presented with the Nicholas Tan Honour Board for his outstanding contribution to the past few orientations. Congratulations Nick!

And of course, the main event of the evening… the dinner! After all that talking, it was a relief to sit down and relax and have something to eat. The food was, of course, delicious. Entertainment for the dinner was provided by the band Grayscale, who did a fantastic job… even though it was their very first public performance as a band, they definitely gave it their all and livened up the evening with some awesome tunes.

And as always, we have photos of the event to share with everyone. Click on the image below to view the gallery!
