ISC acknowledges the great tragedy that has occurred at Burma – recent news has detailed the loss of over 22000 lives and many more who are unaccounted for as a result of the devastating cyclone.

There are around 80 students from Burma on student visas in Australia and hundreds more who are here on a permanent residency basis. Due to the nature of the cyclone, most communication infrastructures have broken down.

In this time of sorrow for the many who have relations and friends back home in Burma, Mr Ron Maw of the Burmese Association of WA has agreed to be available to all students who wanted some support and to be able to talk with fellow countrymen regarding family situations back home.

Ron can be contacted through: 0419 864 727, home 9418 6726, email: ronmaw.52@hotmail.com

Also for those who wish to contact the University Counselling services:

The Counselling Service reception operates from 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Building 3 Room 128 Mt Lawley campus (for all campuses)
Telephone 9370 6706
Facsimile 9370 6730
